Join the Belmont Dramatic Club for our first ever festival of short plays: The Show Must Go On!

ABOUT THE SHOW
Based on our available records, The Show Must Go On is the FIRST festival of short original works since the founding of the Belmont Dramatic Club in 1903. With this production, you are becoming part of our history, and breaking new ground for BDC!

In this production, multiple directors will take on nine short plays written by New England area playwrights. Each piece takes a different look at the ways in which we “perform” in our lives, and what it means to go on when life is disrupted. There are a couple of glimpses behind the curtain for actual theatre performances that go awry, as well!

The Stage Kiss written by Miranda Cashman - directed by John Michael Rondello

AUDITIONS
Auditions will be held on Tuesday, June 23, and Thursday, June 25, from 7-9pm at Belmont Town Hall (455 Concord Ave., Belmont, MA).

Audition sign-ups are encouraged and walk-ins will be accepted. Prepared monologues are NOT required for this audition. We will use a collection of audition sides from our shows, which will be available for you to review ahead of time.

REHEARSALS
Our first read through will be held at Belmont Town Hall (455 Concord Ave., Belmont, MA) on Tuesday, September 8, at 7pm. All cast and crew will be required to attend.

Rehearsals will typically take place at Belmont Town Hall on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday evenings from September 8 through November 5. Not all actors will be required for all rehearsals. Each play will rehearse for at least one hour per week on a set schedule. Your director may arrange for additional rehearsals at other locations or via Zoom.

There will be full run throughs on Thursday, October 1, Wednesday, October 28, and Thursday, November 5. All cast and crew will be required to attend. Full dress rehearsals will be held on Tuesday, November 10, and Thursday, November 12. Again, all cast and crew will be required to attend.

PERFORMANCES
The show will be performed at Belmont Town Hall (455 Concord Ave., Belmont, MA):

Saturday, November 14th @ 8pm
Sunday, November 15th @ 2pm
Friday, November 20th @ 8pm
Saturday, November 21st @ 8pm
Sunday, November 22nd @ 2pm

CASTING
BDC is committed to casting in identity-conscious ways. All auditioners will be given equal opportunity, and will be considered for each role regardless of age, gender, race, creed, sexual orientation, gender expression, or disability.

CREW
If you would like to join the technical crew and/or support staff for The Show Must Go On, please make note of that on your audition form. Production staff will contact you regarding our open opportunities.
